So it hasn’t been hard to figure out that we haven’t been updating as much on this site as in the past. We have been diligently working to make a smooth transition from the site that you currently see, to something considerably bigger, which has taken quite a bit of time to accomplish. We definitely appreciate your patience, and hope that you continue to check in to see what we are up to.

The efforts of our new servers, new equipment, and new style will be on full display soon. We’re definitely excited about it, as you should be too.

This is another great video from TED that deserves a view, especially the segment at the end…

As a kid, growing up in an entrepreneurial family, I had the bug from an early age. While this video stresses that we should raise kids to be entrepreneurs, the information he provides is relevant for kids and adults alike. Nurturing our entrepreneurial traits is something that we should never stop doing no matter how old we get so today, start nurturing. Look for the opportunities to fulfill a need in all areas of your daily life. From your morning commute until the time you go to bed, there are opportunities all around you. Find one, and if it’s worthwhile, make it happen.

We currently are very close to finalizing some of our major updates for the site and will be rolling them out in the near future. Strange how easy it is to have a “bad day” even though you just saw a man gathering redeemable cigarette butts from every cigarette disposal around downtown Cleveland’s Justice Center in order to salvage enough tobacco for maybe two hand rolled cigarettes. Strange how easy it is to want to make more money while 90% of the people you provide services to haven’t had a job since 1999, and probably won’t ever have one that makes above minimum wage. Strange how easy it is to feel slighted by constructive criticism even though someone may just be trying to help you and has most likely received similar advice sometime in their past.

And by “you” , I mean me.

The Power of Perception

I was playing Pac Man on my phone today and developed a new strategy once I hit the peach level and higher. If you don’t already know, biting the magic bullets begets immunity to the ferocious multi-colored ghosts turned blue. Instead of chomping my way through the maze to get to the magic bullets and invoke revenge on as many of the four ghosts as possible while racking up points in hopes of making the international internet leader board, I directed my once angry and fearful yellow chomping machine along a different route of self confidence and courage. For a long time, I thought the ghosts deliberately sought out to harm Pac Man, however, it turns out the ghosts blindly float along the maze and psychosomatically cause Pac Man (me) to seek the four corners of “safety” and revenge. Little did I know, the ghosts didn’t care about Pac Man dying, they cared about building his self confidence, hence the intermittent slides of Pac Man becoming larger after beating certain levels. Pac Man’s insane thought process, however, believed that it was better to fervently seek a ghost meal upon digestion of the magic pellet, forgetting that eating them only restores them to their original color and health.

So there I led my little one through the progressively quicker groundhog day mazes of life, this time not seeking to repeatedly destroy the immortal ghosts only to receive a stellar score and die quicker. Instead, I guided Pac Man around corners not only expecting to see an occasional red, orange, pink, or green foe turned friend, but embracing their company and guiding them through echolocation along their blind route. Pac Man’s mindset has become: “If I am eaten, they know not what they did, for they are blind and hungry. Besides, I’m the bad guy who eats all the pellets, they’re probably hungry too.”

Excessive Medical Scans Have American’s Leading the World in Radiation Exposure

How many CAT scans and MRIs would you say you’ve had in your lifetime? 3? 7? 30? MSNBC.com reported that in a series of Columbia University studies, not only is the amount of medical scans in the United States far overshadowing other indusialized nations, but the increased amount will be the cause of cancer in an increasing amount of diagnosed patients. Since it is suggested that approximately one third of all medial scans are unnecessary, I’d say keeping tabs on you and your loved one’s scan count is of utmost importance.

It’s so bad that in the article it tells about a doctor that was terrified to give a child that has already had 31 CAT scans another. After reading about how much radiation actually is in the typical medical scan (10-20 millisieverts), compared to how much Chernobyl and Japanese A-Bomb survivors were exposed to (50-150 millisieverts), it’ll almost take an act of congress to get me to take one again, that’s for sure.

There was no doubt that while this was most likely not the last stop of the evening, on this day, I couldn’t think of a better and more fashionable way to start…
